Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy Math and Sciences – Portfolio

Academic Year 2011-2012 – Currently in 4th Quarter.

Note: This year’s lecture notes can be found here. Occasionally we will also use the Charter Moodle site for assignment upload and quizzes/tests/labs.

Our year is winding down fast now that AP testing is over.

  • Calculus: we will cover chapter 12.  We will have a quiz covering sections 12.1 – 12.4 on May 23 (last thing for seniors before graduation).  Juniors will probably make it through 12.9 and have a test.
  • Physics: we will finish up nuclear with a test and a lab.  The lab will be on May 17 and the test will be on May 22 or 23.  We will have cold physics day on May 24.
  • Computer Science: we will have our programming quiz on May 17 and the test on May 23.  We will then begin web pages on May 24 and get through as much material as possible with a test on Jun 7.
  • Finite Math: our test will be on May 21.  Then non-seniors will work on logic circuits to round out the year.

Use the menu bar above to navigate to your course of study. There you will find all your syllibi and course requirements as well as daily notes and handouts. New for 2011-2012: You must keep a binder for all your papers (I suggest you organize it something like this: handouts, homework, tests and labs). This will serve as your portfolio of work for the year so you need to keep it neat and organized. You will be graded on its contents at the end of each quarter – you will turn it in with your mid-term/final exam.

My grading criteria for all classes: Tests 50%, MidTerm/Final 15%, Quiz/Lab 20%, Homework 10%, Portfolio 5%. All homework is due when you take a unit exam or the end of a quarter, which ever comes first. You may turn homework in at any time before the due date (e.g. each day, once a week, etc…). Late homework will not be accepted.
