Information Announced to Students
  • Congratulations to Ariel and Isabella Mesenbrink for receiving superior ratings in piano at the Northwest Music Fest in Spokane.  Ariel was a finalist in the Romantic category.  Isabella received the gold medal in the Baroque category.
  • Girls in grades 8-11 interested in playing basketball next season should attend a mandatory team meeting today during Study Lab in the high school MPR.
  • National Honor Society members won’t want to miss the last and probably best meeting of the year!  Come to Dr. Proser’s room Friday–not Thursday, as usual–during Study Lab.  That’s TOMORROW!
  • There will be a mandatory meeting for high school boys basketball players tomorrow during lunch in Mr. Hallett’s room.
  • Turn in your tennis uniform to the middle school office by tomorrow.

  • Panther Track & Field qualified 11 athletes for the Idaho State Championships at the Regional meet in Lapwai this past weekend.  We had two Regional Champions–Susie Leifheit in the Triple Jump and Hannah Meyer in the 3200 meter run.  Regional runner-ups that automatically qualified for State were Becca Arts (twice), Katie Johnson, Asia Bloodgood, Megan Forster, Maddie Iott, and Emma McCormick for the Lady Panthers.  For the boys, David Conway was a runner-up in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and Leif Fredericks and Zach LaBenne received at large bids for their performances.  Congratulations Panther Tracksters and good luck at State this weekend in Boise!
  • High school track practice today is at 3:30 P.M.

  • At the District Tennis Tournament Mindi Grantham placed 1st in Girls’ Singles, Lynn Babich, 3rd in Girls’ Singles, and Parker Matthews, 2nd in Boys’ Singles.  Congratulations  and best wishes as they head to the state competition on Friday.

  • Last night’s Talent Show was another night of great entertainment!  For Middle School — 1st Place was won by Daniel Drechsel, Jake Alderink, and Abel Siemens who performed a hilarious Charter Academy version of “Bohemian Rhapsody”;  2nd Place went to Tiger Ashtiani who sang “Never Far from Home”;  3rd Place was Heather Gabrielsen who played guitar and sang “Brighter than the Sun”.  For High School — 1st Place went to “Rindercella”, a story told in spoonerisms by Tiffany Clements-Taylor and acted out by Miranda & Marissa Koski; 2nd Place was “Rolling in the Deep” performed by a rock band and singers made up of Rachel Anderson, Chia Ikefuna, Kendall Parrett, and Patty, Jenny & Sean Iiams; 3rd Place was “Beethoven’s Fifth”, a comedy routine by Jordan Gibbs & Kendall Parrett.  Thanks to David Minerath and Parker Matthews for being great MC’s.
  • The National Junior Honor Society will meet today at 3:00 P.M. in room 12.
  • Girls Chorus Club will meet today at 3:00 P.M. in the choir room.

  • The U.S. Secretary of Education announced the selection of Katie Waltar as one of two Presidential Scholars in the state!  Presidential Scholars are selected based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals.  She will receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion in a ceremony on June 16.
  • Congratulations to our sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Nancy Larsen, for earning her Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
  • National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) officers ONLY will meet today during Study Lab in the middle school MPR.  The officers need to check in with their Study Lab teachers first, then go straight to the MMPR.
  • Tomorrow the entire NJHS will meet at 3:00 P.M. in room 12.
  • The newly elected middle school ASB officers will also meet today  during Study Lab in room 11.
  • Girls Chorus Club will NOT meet today.  They will meet tomorrow at 3:00 P.M. in the choir room.
  • Charter’s 13th Annual Talent Show is tonight at 6:00 P.M. in the HSMPR. Traditionally this is a fun night of entertainment. No tickets are needed. Everyone is welcome!

  • Mr. Childs’ Study Lab class will meet in the high school MPR today.
  • There will be middle school track practice TODAY to turn in uniforms and receive ribbons and plaques from Districts.
  • The ASB is hosting a double feature movie night tonight at 6:00 P.M. in the high school.  Entrance fee is by donation only and there will be lots of food booths set up for snacks, etc.  so, bring your bean bag chairs and have a fun night at the movies!
  • All Talent Show acts will have a rehearsal after school on Monday starting at 3:15 P.M. in the high school MPR.
  • Senior class photo in caps and gowns will be during lunch on Wednesday, May 16.  Plan on bringing a lunch that day that you can eat quickly.
  • Attention Charter Academy student — are you interested in volunteering?  Ironman is looking for volunteers for 2012 race week- June 20-24.  Students ages 16 or older interested in volunteering should see Mr. DePew  OR  students ages 13 through 15 interested in volunteering  (must be accompanied by an adult) please have your parent contact Mr. DePew for sign-up.
  • All students need to clean up after themselves on the playground during lunch otherwise lunch will be eaten only in the multi-purpose room.  That means, when you finish your lunch, throw your trash away immediately.

Flag at Half Staff
  • Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter has ordered flags to half-staff  at all Idaho state owned facilities  on Friday May 4, 2012 from dawn to dusk in honor of U.S. Army Sergeant Chris Workman, 33 from Rupert, Idaho.  Sgt. Workman was killed in a rescue mission when his helicopter went down in bad weather in Afghanistan.

ASB Sponsored Movie Night
